RouteThis Release

New interfaces & optional PDF exports

We've been hard at work at RouteThis HQ this month, making some highly requested updates to the core RouteThis platform, as well as putting the finishing touches on an optional add-on.

More details to follow below, but if you're more into visuals than reading, check out this 3-minute video where I walk you through the feature changes.

Now, the updates.

1. Firewall & Parental Controls

If aggressive firewalls and parental controls negatively affects the connectivity of your smart home products, this update will be especially useful for your support team.

The new Firewall and Parental Controls section combines server connectivity checks, port checks, and DNS lookups to give immediate feedback if a firewall might be in play. If this shows up as a failure, the customer may have some kind of blocking enabled on their network.

A note for our current partners:

This will be default for smart home companies (including speakers, cameras, thermostats, alarms, locks, etc.). So please ensure your entire team knows this change is coming. If you would like this enabled as an ISP, get in touch!

2. Connection Quality

Our connection quality interface got a major upgrade last month when we replaced raw graphs with rating bars (green, yellow, red ratings). This month, we've kicked it up another notch and are now making it explicitly clear which ratings represent connections inside the home and which represent outside i.e. your infrastructure.

A note for our current partners:

This will be default for ISPs/Carriers . So please ensure your entire team knows this change is coming. If you would like this enabled as a smart home company, get in touch!

3. Optional PDF Exports

Many of our partners have been asking for one-click PDF exports to make it easy to share RouteThis scan results, so we made it happen. Both ISP and Smart Home partners will now have the option to export entire scans or specific popups.

If you'd like that enabled in your account, please contact your RouteThis rep.

Coming Soon

That's all we have this month but our engineering team is already hard at work on the next 3 updates in the pipeline, which we'll be betaing soon. So, stay tuned!
